How do I Love Thee?

How do I love thee?

I´ve chosen this poem because I really enjoyed reading it. I could really visualize the writer feelings towards his husband-to-be. Her love towards him is so intense that she mentions she will love him, even after death. By mentioning love after death, readers may infer that this pure and unconditional love will continue in heaven, and that it will be even better there. Readers may also infer that the writer believes in God. And when she mentions the lost saints, she means that she loves him in the way she loved saints as a child, refering to the blind faith of children.
For me, love poems are really fascinating, And this is no the exception, Love can change everything; it can change negative aspects of one´s personality, it can make one appreciate life, and it may even save one´s life. Love is everything!!!  And I´m not only talking about couples´ love, I also talk about Love in all forms, family, friends, pets, etc. I believe that Love is the only way to achieve happiness.
My glogster shows what I felt while reading the poem. I have included two videos one of No Doubt another of Sahnia Twain and the BSB. The second video mentioned is really special for me. I hope you enjoy my Glogster!

  1. You have made your view of love really clear through your glog, but it does not seem to bear much resemblance to the tone of the poem.
Why do you state this is written to her husband-to-be? How do you know they are not married yet?
The reference to "my childhood's faith" may be read as the blind faith of children, but why "lost saints".
NB: you don't infer what is written in black and white; his/her; genitive; no exception; romantic love

    1. I have stated that this is written to her husband to be because I have done some research previously and I have found that information. I have also read (as sofi wrote) that her husband was more than important in her life. Thanks to him, her health improved greatly!(she had an strange illness). My lost saints means that she doesn´t believe in saints as she used to, but that she loves him as she used to love her saints.

    2. If what you say is the result of research, don't you think you should mention that it is not explicit in the poem?

NB: use of present perfect!; an strange!

  2. As regards linking the poem to prose text, I can clearly connect this poem with the short story the Lagoon. Arsat´s love towards Diamelen was really strong. He was so deeply in love, that he even risked his brother´s life! Of course, I am not justifying his act, but it shows that his love was as deep as the writer of the poem.

    1. Suitable connection!

NB: Did Arsat "risk" his brother's life? If that had been the case, he would have been alive!

  3. Yes, you are right! He didn´t risk his life, he lost his life to help Arsat and Diamelen escape from the rajah's men.
